Honolulu, Hawaii (AP) – Mosi Tatupu, a former NFL player for the New England Patriots, died at the age of 54
According to a report from the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Tatupu died Tuesday of unknown causes. The report said Tatupu suffered from hypertension and other diseases.
Tatupu, the father of current star Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu, played for New England 1978-90, so the Pro Bowl in 1986 on special teams. After that, he played five games for the Rams in 1991, his last season in the NFL.
Also a runner, accumulated retained Tatupu 2415 yards and 18 touchdowns in 199 career games, 96 catches for 843 yards and two touchdowns.
Tatupu, a member of the Hall of Fame Sports in Hawaii, had been formed in Lofa and was an assistant coach at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, 2002-2007.
