As the movie progresses the characters feel compelled to build stronger relationships but face one or other form of resistance by the very city that brings them together. This makes for a very interesting watch.

The name Dhobi Ghat comes from the city’s landmark laundry district, where everyday from sunrise till the sunset, the common task of cleaning, washing and drying of clothes is carried out. It is a place that cleans all the dirt of the city with some water and lots of detergent.Director Kiran Rao’s script shifts at a slow speed, which will give you all the time in the world to understand the characters, their behaviour, and their manner without discussing a lot. But this type of movie is not possible for everybody to understand so easily.It is a 95 minutes movie with no any intervals and songs. The movie is related to the life of four people, who meet each other by chance and through them the 5th character Mumbai.

The movie was shot using hand held cameras with moving shots in a guerrilla style. This is a tough task to do but the director Kiran Rao gets it correct with perfection and the movie appears to be fantastically crafted. The movie juggles between two different times in the lives of the characters – past, present and projects their daily routine. The movie talks about the ups and downs in their lives and how they feel about it. It is about the general public how they feel when they do not get what they want.The star performer in the movie, as expected, is Amir Khan who with his vast industry experience brings out the best in himself, but Prateik (Babbar) also does a commendable job on the screen with the character given to him. Though the real credit must go out to the crew members and to the director Kiran Rao for making this a treat to watch.
